First, we have a number of important internal updates that we want you to know about, especially the addition of some great new VCS Board members. Second, we want to highlight some very interesting work that is leveraging the power of the VCS Program, as well as the CCB Standards, to drive cost-effective and transformative emission reduction projects. We would like to let you know about a few VCS Program updates we are releasing today. The revisions to the VCS program documents are mainly clarifications in response to folks asking for guidance on VCS rules. There is also an important change to the methodology approval process.

Peatlands in tropical countries are a vital carbon sink, representing approximately 12 percent of land area in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, tropical peat forests are often cleared and drained to pave the way for palm oil plantations and other land uses.
