Management & Staff

A professional staff based in Washington, DC manages VCS operations and business and program development.

In 2011, we will open a regional office in Santiago, in partnership with Fundación Chile, to support VCS operations in Spanish-speaking Latin America.

David Antonioli, CEO

David works with the board members to chart the course for VCS strategy and development and to spearhead outreach to government, business and environmental leaders. David also oversees the day-to-day operations and business development of the VCS Association. Prior to joining VCS, David spent more than a decade working in carbon markets, as a consultant with ICF International, as a project developer with EcoSecurities, and as a representative of USAID in Mexico, among other roles.

Jerry Seager, Director of Program Development 

Jerry spearheads and oversees all new initiatives that expand the scope of the VCS Program. Prior to joining VCS, Jerry worked at the CarbonNeutral Company, leading on project origination of voluntary market and CDM projects. Jerry also spent eight years in the financial services industry, designing trading and risk management systems.

William M. Ferretti, Ph.D., Senior Policy Advisor

Will is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive, worldwide policy outreach strategy for VCS. Prior to joining VCS, Will worked at the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), where he conducted the Exchange's day-to-day public policy outreach to the U.S. Congress and federal regulatory agencies.

Aditi Sen, Program Manager 

Aditi oversees VCS program operations team and is responsible for coordinating all interactions with registry operators, validator/verifier bodies, methodology developers, and other market participants. Prior to joining VCS, Aditi worked on carbon finance and sustainable development at the World Bank and in the private and non-profit sectors in India and Sri Lanka, gaining significant experience in international development.

Naomi Swickard, AFOLU Manager

Naomi oversees the VCS Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use program, developing new guidance and tools and working to expand the scope of the program in close coordination with the AFOLU Steering Committee. Prior to joining VCS, Naomi worked on carbon markets and biodiversity conservation with South Pole and with Conservation International, in addition to previous roles in international development.

Andrea Welsh, Outreach Manager 

Andrea is responsible for outreach, marketing and communications with stakeholders, media and wider audiences. Andrea has worked in Washington on international policy and public relations since 2007. Before that, she spent eight years as a correspondent, covering political, economic and environmental issues in Brazil, the United States and Spanish-speaking Latin America.

Carolyn Ching, Senior Program Officer 

Carolyn contributes to research and policy development in the AFOLU sector and supports stakeholders and program users in interpreting VCS rules and requirements. Prior to joining VCS, Carolyn worked on resource conservation and policy implementation and researched forest carbon issues in an Ecuador reserve.

Sam Hoffer, Program Officer 

Sam is the main point person for VCS registries and inquiries about the VCS registry system. Sam also contributes to research and policy development and handles the contracting of validation and verification bodies for methodology assessments.

Ben Block, Program Officer

Ben is the main point person for Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs) and also a major contributor to VCS training, communications and marketing materials. Prior to joining VCS, Ben reported sustainability news for World Watch magazine and, as a Fulbright Felow, supported outreach efforts by conservation groups in the Peruvian Amazon.

Kristen Reglin, Office Manager

Kristen manages all bookkeeping, contracting, invoicing and reporting for the VCSA. She also manages trademark-use agreements and other external VCS agreements.
